Job Description

George Fox Universitys Student Accounts department is searching for a reliable and inquisitive Student Accounts Transition Specialist who takes great pride in providing a positive student experience.


About the Job:

The role of the Student Accounts Transition Specialist is a highly rewarding and challenging one. It requires a self motivated and driven individual who enjoys managing their tasks and workload without being closely directed. The position includes authority and decision making compliance policy recommendations and relationship building. A student leaving due to financial challenges is heartbreaking and this position largely focuses on finding a pathway forward for a student to continue their degree whether at GFU or elsewhere. The Student Accounts Transition Specialist is tasked with building relationships and living out the Be Known Promise to a unique subset of our student population.


Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Diligently communicating with students as they begin and end their journey at GFU.
  • Working with former and returning student receivables along with any related payment accountability measures or other operational tasks associated.
  • Serving as the student receivables compliance specialist around the legalities and consumer protections associated with past due student account balances(e.g. consumer protections and federal laws).
  • Mitigating risk factors prior to a students departure.
  • Assisting the Director of Student Accounts with financial appeals along with serving as the University liaison and conduit with collections agencies to negotiate and recommend settlements.
  • Following the student term withdrawal and leave-of-absence processes as well as managing transcript/diploma releases and related appeals.
  • Providing the fiscal management of enrollment deposits including oversight of income policy and reconciliations.
  • Query writing and report generation database audits and analysis responding to issues intervening when necessary updating records and delegating tasks.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others including employees students and the public in a spirit of teamwork respect and customer service.
  • By actions words and lifestyle be a Christian role model to students whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

A day in the life of this position:

The day-to-day activities for this position ebb and flow with the academic semesters commencement and recruiting cycles. The start of each semester is also the end of the prior one and these months are the busy season for the whole office and certainly for this position. Most days require time spent on financial appeals analyzing data and accounts communicating responding to inquiries documentation research proactively intervening policy enforcement and operational tasks.
