ToyotasRegulatory Affairs & Environmental Sustainability division is looking for a passionate and highly motivatedInternational Chemical and Materials Advocacy Principal Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to advocate Toyotas position towards proposed chemical and material laws & regulations being developed outside the United States.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Advocacy the person in this role will support the Chemical & Materials Stewardship (CMS) departments objective to provide subject matter expertise coordinate company positions advocate on behalf of Toyota and communicate these efforts with Toyota business stakeholders related to chemical and materials laws and regulations. Excellent communication and negotiation skills as well as strong attention to detail is key to being successful.
What youll be doing
Represent Toyota by continuously engaging stakeholders to monitor coordinate communicate advocate guide and influence development of chemical and materials laws and regulations which are relevant to Toyota. Examples would include efforts being made within the Stockholm Convention EU-REACH Environment Canada among others.
Collaborate with other producers inside and outside of the auto industry directly or through various trade associations conferences etc. Strategically utilize these mechanisms to advance Toyotas needs and perspectives.
Coordinate with Toyota Japan Toyotas global affiliates and global trade associations to build broad global advocacy positions and strategies to ensure Toyota global One Voice.
Communicate collaborate and strategize with various Toyota compliance related business units and supply chain stakeholders to gather impact assessment information and to provide insights on requirements to ensure they have the information necessary for proper compliance.
Support Toyotas North American aspirations to expand vehicle development business primarily through increased vehicle export by providing international chemical and material regulatory subject matter expertise to vehicle developers.
Establish constructive critical government agency and trade association relationships to represent Toyota with credibility and trust.
Utilize various IT tools to support the tracking management prioritization and broadcast of chemical and materials regulations and legislation.
What you bring
Bachelors degree (or higher) in related Engineering discipline or related field.
Minimum 10 years of related professional experience.
Previous knowledge and experience in chemical and materials management.
Previous knowledge and experience in managing product legislation and regulations.
Demonstrated project management capabilities.
Ability to adhere to milestones and timely completion of reports etc.
Full capability in MS Office suite and interest in pursuing further IT tools to enhance the work.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%.
Added bonus if you have:
Experience with legislatures regulatory agencies municipalities lobbying firms or trade associations outside the United States.
Masters degree in business administration or engineering.
Bilingual skills.
A desire to build professional networks and alliances.
Ability to represent Regulatory Affairs & Environmental Sustainability group and Toyota to internal stakeholders (incl. executives) across the enterprise and to external stakeholders outside of the company.
