The Property Group Limited (TPG) is a locally owned property and RMA planning consultancy bringing Kiwis together to build Aotearoa New Zealand for over two decades. We are looking for a senior consultant to join our friendly Whangarei office.

About the job

Our planning team is a talented group of professionals who apply their expertise knowledge and passion to deliver outstanding outcomes for our clients every day. This is a refreshing opportunity to join our Northland / Auckland planning team based in either Whangrei (ideally) or Auckland and contribute to a strategic change in thinking and direction build relationships and deliver projects that shape communities and environments across Aotearoa.


This role includes:

  • Supporting and contributing to operational and strategic planning across the Auckland & Northland Regions.
  • Leading planning initiatives in one of our strategic growth regions.
  • Working across Auckland & Northland to deliver high-quality planning advice and solutions.

About you

Were keen to hear from experienced planners with diverse backgrounds who are business minded and excited about leadership growth and making a meaningful impact.


You will stand out to us if you have the following

  • 6 years of planning experience (12 for Principal) with a strong understanding of the Resource Management Act (RMA) planning policy and consenting processes.
  • Proven experience in preparing and reviewing resource consent applications policy submissions and assessments of environmental effects (AEEs).
  • Strong technical knowledge of planning legislation and frameworks including the RMA National Policy Statements and relevant district and regional plans.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients stakeholders iwi and councils.
  • A proactive solutions-focused mindset with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Experience in a consultancy environment is advantageous as is a relevant tertiary qualification in planning environmental management or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
  • A collaborative approach with a willingness to support colleagues provide peer review and contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams.

With a variety of projects constantly on the go youll be a team player and happy to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. You are accountable and take responsibility for your contribution within a multi-team project delivery. Building strong relationships and working collaboratively will be second nature to you.
