Position Purpose
This individual is responsible to plan and implement habilitative/rehabilitative programs for individuals who exhibit speech/language/swallowing problems.
What you will Do
Plans directs evaluates and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs to treat speech language and/or swallowing disorders.
Prepares written reports of diagnostic findings intervention techniques used progress made and follow-up status in a timeframe according to policy and procedure.
Develops treatment plans directs supervises and treats patients/caregiver in accordance with treatment plan.
Consults and communicates with patient family providers and nursing staff. Assist multidisciplinary team with discharge planning and establishes home therapy programs.
Completes required documentation on patients and maintains other department records in accordance with departmental health center policies and procedures.
Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Masters degree in the area of Speech/Language Pathology
Must have demonstrated competence in an acute and outpatient patient care setting for at least one year.
Current licensure from the Iowa Department of Public Health
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is desirable.
Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines.
