JOB SUMMARY:
The Residency Curriculum Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the resident curriculum and clinical learning experiences. This position will collaborate with the Residency Program Administrator and Residency Program Director to advance residents through the program curriculum and will ensure Blue Ridge Health Practice Managers and other clinical rotation partners have coordination with resident coverage and expectations in each rotation in compliance with ACGME accreditation standards and MAHEC regulatory requirements. This role will also manage the residency program curriculum ensuring that each rotation has updated goals and objectives that are accurate to ACGME milestone standards. This position will function as a liaison with residency faculty and other departments divisions and partners to manage complex schedules at multiple locations for our rural residency program. This role will ensure ACGME compliance for: Resident call schedules clinical rotation schedules didactics schedules and various program activities. This role will fully support the Residency Program during seasonal times including Recruitment Graduation and orientation.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Curriculum Development and Oversight
Annual Scheduling & Cost Reporting:
Develops and maintains annual clinical rotation schedules for all residents ensuring alignment with ACGME graduation requirements and CMS cost-reporting standards.
Collaborates with the GME office to ensure schedules support institutional reimbursement and compliance with federal guidelines.
Accreditation & Curriculum Alignment:
Ensures all resident rotations meet ACGME academic and clinical standards for successful graduation.
Maintains and updates rotation Goals & Objectives (G&Os) based on ACGME competencies collaborating with the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) and rotation faculty.
Didactics & Educational Support:
Supports development of the didactics curriculum in collaboration with program faculty; schedules lectures tracks attendance and maintains evaluation systems to monitor effectiveness and learner engagement.
Coordinates simulation center activities and procedural training to ensure educational value and clinical preparedness.
Resident Evaluation Support:
Assists the Program Administrator in managing the resident evaluation process in New Innovations ensuring timely completion data integrity and program compliance.
Community & Clinical Collaboration:
Develops and maintains strategic relationships with community-based faculty clinical leadership and administrative partners to ensure a high-quality training experience.
Coordinates with Blue Ridge Health and other clinical sites to ensure accurate scheduling across primary care rural and specialty settings.
Collaborates with chief residents to build and maintain equitable and ACGME-compliant call coverage schedules.
Program Letters of Agreement (PLA):
Creates and maintains PLAs for all external clinical rotations in accordance with ACGME and MAHEC requirements.
Rotation Template Management:
Designs and updates accurate rotation templates in New Innovations; applies modifications as needed to reflect curriculum changes or rotation-specific goals.
Administrative Responsibilities
Systems Proficiency:
Maintains advanced proficiency in New Innovations Med Scheduler and Smartsheet to support scheduling evaluations and programmatic tracking.
Confidentiality & Professionalism:
Handles sensitive medical financial and personal data with a high level of discretion and professionalism.
Cross-Program Coordination:
Collaborates with other MAHEC GME programs and hospital departments on joint rotation schedules and cross-site training experiences.
Evaluation Management:
Monitors monthly compliance with resident and faculty evaluations; inputs evaluation data for community faculty and gathers supplemental feedback as needed.
Resident Support & Resources:
Annually updates and distributes program manuals; provides resident guidance on institutional and program-specific policies and procedures.
Meeting Planning & Facilitation:
Organizes and facilitates key residency planning meetings including:
Program Evaluation Committee (PEC)
Clinical Competency Committee (CCC)
Annual Program Evaluation (APE)
Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) workgroups
Resident/Faculty/Advisor meetings
Milestone Tracking
Prepares and submits milestone data to the ACGME bi-annually; coordinates CCC reviews and documentation to ensure compliance.
Faculty Scheduling Coordination:
Ensures faculty precepting schedules are aligned with clinical operations and resident needs supporting Medicare billing and ACGME compliance.
Regional Coordination:
Coordinates faculty involvement in regional educational or community events relevant to residency training and program outreach.
Cross-Coverage Support
Operational Continuity:
Provides backup and cross-coverage for the Program Administrator and Faculty Coordinator to ensure uninterrupted program operations resident support and curriculum delivery.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelors degree in office administration business healthcare management education or other related degree and two years of work experience in a residency program academic setting health care organization or office environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge or experience with ACGME ABFM and other accrediting and regulatory bodies that affect resident education and training is a plus.
SCHEDULE:
Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. This position is based in the Hendersonville Family Health Center Clinic. Generally work is performed Mon-Fri between 8:00-5:00pm. Occasional early mornings evenings and/or weekends may be . Typical business hours are Monday Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend holiday or evening coverage is occasionally . Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments or evening activities as requested by the team leader.
POSITION COMPENSATION:
$50700 full time full beneifts
