The Senior Autonomous Vehicle Engineer (Mechanical) will work as part of our cross-functional and world-class engineering team to design and integrate mechanical systems with control algorithms and electronics and retrofit such systems to any vehicle turning them autonomous!
Role responsibilities
Design and develop brackets mounts and modular sub-assemblies integrating pneumatic hydraulic and autonomy components.
Develop innovative mechanisms for acquiring real-time data including wheel encoders joint positions and articulated body angles.
Perform structural thermal and motion analyses using simulation tools e.g.: FEA CFD to validate designs under real world conditions.
Develop and modify vehicles pneumatic and hydraulic subsystems to allow autonomous vehicle control.
Create calibration tools such as jigs and fixtures for precise alignment and testing of subsystems including sensors and actuators.
Collaborate with electrical and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with our proprietary algorithms.
Research and implement advanced materials manufacturing methods and cutting-edge technologies to enhance vehicle performance ease production complexity and cost.
Provide documentation and support to manufacturing teams ensuring successful transition from prototype to production.
Required Experience
Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics Robotics or related fields
4 to 6 years experience in mechanical or robotics design.
Strong understanding of kinematics dynamics and actuation systems including pneumatic and hydraulic principles.
Highly Proficient in Solidworks 3D CAD.
Experience with structural thermal and motion analyses via FEA CFD tools.
Understanding of vehicle systems and their integration including powertrains transmissions differentials steering and brakes.
