Job Description


Position Summary:
The Residential Improvement Coordinator (RIC) plays a key role in enhancing the quality of life in their assigned dorm community. This position involves identifying planning and executing improvement projects from start to finish while ensuring alignment with university policies and safety guidelines. The RIC will also document project progress through written and photographic reports gaining hands-on experience in project management budgeting and stakeholder communication.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify and propose potential quality-of-life improvement projects for the dorm community.
  • Plan and implement approved projects in collaboration with residents RAs and the Residential Life Director.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders to ensure projects align with available resources and policies.
  • Document progress through written reports and photographs.
  • Ensure compliance with university safety standards and residential life policies.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be a current MIU student.
  • Must be eligible for Federal Work Study (FWS).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Reliable proactive and able to work independently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
  • Creative problem-solving and adaptability.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Interest in improving the dorms and surrounding areas and willingness to develop and work with a plan.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this position the Residential Improvement Coordinator will be able to:

  • Apply project management principles in a real-world setting.
  • Develop pitch and execute small-scale improvement initiatives.
  • Document present and evaluate projects effectively.

Location: On Campus- Dormitories/Res Life Office

Supervisor: Earl Needhammer Residential Life Director.
