Job Summary
The Senior Geoscientist will provide technical leadership and advanced subsurface evaluation across our portfolio of underground natural gas storage assets. This role will be responsible for integrating geologic geophysical petrophysical and operational data to optimize current storage capacity ensure asset integrity and identify/evaluation of new development and expansion opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Align geologic models with reservoir simulations for deliverability capacity and integrity optimization
- Support evaluation and selection of geo-modeling platforms aligned with business needs.
- Lead the geologic characterization of storage assets using seismic interpretation well log analysis core studies and historical performance data.
- Maintain and update 3d geologic models to support short and long term optimization planning
- Conduct salt creep studies and assess mechanical integrity of cavern lifecycle management
- Identify geologic opportunities for working gas increases and injection/withdrawal rate enhancements
- Evaluate brownfield expansion options for existing storage fields and caverns
- Support and lead greenfield site screening and feasibility studies.
- Provide geoscience input for well placement cavern leaching plans and reservoir development strategies
- Coordinate with reservoir facilities and operations teams to develop integrated optimization plans
- Coordinate with commercial and business development teams on strategic growth initiatives ensuring geologic feasibility aligns with market opportunities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters in Geology Geophysics or related field.
- 7 years of experience in underground gas storage (salt cavern/depleted field) or relatable industry.
- Proficiency in geoscience software (Petrel Kingdom or equivalent software).
- Proficiency in seismic interpretation geomechanical analysis and reservoir property modeling
- Familiarity with integrated geoscience-reservoir engineering workflows
- Strong collaborative mindset with proven ability to co-lead technical projects and effective communication skills for both technical and executive audiences
Performance Indicators
- Delivery of high quality geologic models fully integrated into reservoir simulations
- Documented capacity or deliverability gains from geoscience-driven optimization initiatives
- Positive peer and stakeholder feedback with reservoir department and broader optimization teams
Licenses and Certifications
- Bachelors or Masters in Geology Geophysics or related field required.
