VP Operations Supply Chain division

General Summary
The Vice President Operations is responsible for leading the Retail Technology and Healthcare operations team to top-tier supply chain performance winning and leading with customers. This executive will work with peers to establish Ryder as one of the top performing supply chain organizations in the industry. This role is responsible for logistics strategy distribution operations transportation planning and customer interaction. Most importantly this executive must understand and have the ability to drive transformation through the function. We aim to find a way to do things better faster at the most cost-effective price in order to delight our customers.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead a team to deliver the highest service level lowest cost and value-added services to our customers
Lead and be responsible for operational execution excellence
Provide leadership and direction to the business as it relates to overall warehousing and transportation strategy organizational structure organizational design and long term vision for the Retail product
Maintain and report performance against key service metrics internally and externally
Provide direction and leadership to locations
Create efficiencies and leverage distribution and transportation costs ensure high service levels across the vertical and develop strong customer relationships
Ensure distribution operations are effectively managed by maximizing the utilization of all available resources
Deliver against financial targets and budgets
Plan build maintain and improve distribution tools (facilities processes equipment and systems) to continually improve service excellence
Develop and execute inventory management strategies that reduce costs
Interface with customers to ensure effective visibility to the supply chain strategy and maintain strong working partnerships
Establish critical performance metrics in the vertical proactively resolve problems introduce best practices and foster positive change as
Confront complex operational issues determine solutions and motivate staff to implement changes on a timely basis
Directly responsible for the performance management engagement and career development of direct staff. Works with senior leaders to ensure that all employee activities are consistent with the policies and total rewards objectives
Depth of knowledge in considering tradeoffs including investments in automation number of locations inventory management and both speed and cost of delivery
Complexity and Scope
A high energy creative approach to problems will require an executive who is intelligent analytical financial a quick study a team player with exceptionally strong leadership and team building skills. The executive will have had experience in a large company with a reputation for continuous improvement growth and cost management.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Business operations management or a related field
Minimum of 15 years of experience at large consumer distribution 3PL or retail company in supply chain leadership roles focusing on distribution and logistics.
Qualifications:
An individual who operates well at the strategic level but is also able to implement plans and lead individuals through the strategic and tactical aspects of the planning and implementation processes.
A goal-oriented professional who provides a sense of direction and perseveres to achieve positive results.
A leader who will have instant credibility and can motivate and retain well-qualified individuals with diverse talents interests and cultural backgrounds
An individual who can communicate energize and motivate people
Strong leadership skills with an ability to build trust provide direction alignment and vitality to execute with excellence and achieve extraordinary results.
Ability to prioritize and follow through to achieve results and meet deadlines.
Sense of urgency and high level of decisiveness
High level of personal initiative self-driven action-oriented.
Exceptionally strong communication skills both oral and written and the ability to communicate concepts effectively at all levels
Excellent interpersonal skills team player the ability to generate enthusiasm and build effective working relationships at all levels
