COORDINATOR OF CURRICULUM and INSTRUCTION
GRADES 6 12
Grades 6 12 Curriculum Coordinators are responsible for overseeing curriculum development and instructional delivery in their respective academic areas and work to ensure aligned curriculum sequencing from intermediate school to high school through coordination of curriculum and staff development. Curriculum Coordinators work with building principals teachers and district administration to improve student outcomes in their respective subject areas and serve as the department heads at both the intermediate and high school level. There are no teaching duties at either level. Specific responsibilities are as follows:
- Responsible for general supervision of the Department Program
- Directly involved in program development
- Responsible for general leadership of the department
- Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of staff as assigned by the Principal
- Responsible for assessment of methods and materials within the department
- Assists the assistant principal with the administration of MCAS and other assessments as needed
- Coordinates analyzes and distributes MCAS and other assessment results
- Oversees MCAS remediation
- Oversees the development and revision of curriculum
- High School: Responsible for general leadership and supervision of the staff and the program. Completes three evaluations and two summatives for professional status teachers during their evaluation year; completes one observation for all non-professional status teachers.
- IntermediateSchool: Complete one observation per year for non-professional status staff and one per year for professional status staff during their evaluation year.
- Responsible for coordinating all elements of the hiring process and shall make recommendation for positions. Should be the initial screening interviewer of all candidates.
- Responsible for orientation and training of all new staff regarding Department regulations and program.
- Develops the department budget
- Supervises expenditures of appropriated budget
- Supervises the inventory storage use and maintenance of supplies and equipment
- Maintains appropriate Department records
- Assists in scheduling of students and classes when appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree
- Holds Massachusetts license for Supervisor/Director or other administrative license
- Minimum of five years of experience as a classroom teacher (ELA)
- Minimum of three years experience in a leadership role - school administration experience preferred
