The Transportation and Land Use program invites applications for an Assistant Research Scholar at the NYU Marron Institute starting Summer 2025. The Assistant Research Scholar will assist the team with existing projects such as ridership projection modeling and land-use analysis as well as new research that require qualitative and quantitative data collection and understanding transportation decarbonization. Candidates with expertise in transport demand modeling quantitative and qualitative data collection and transportation decarbonization are particularly encouraged to apply. This is a one-year position funded by an existing research grant. The salary range for this position is expected to be $.
About the Transportation and Land Use program (TLU). Led by Eric Goldwyn the groups research takes a comparative approach to understanding how to deliver transportation infrastructure faster and cheaper. The Assistant Research Scholar will work across several projects and assist the research team in providing new insight knowledge and opportunities for action. The Junior Research Scholar can expect to:
Work on several research projects including ongoing research on the Roosevelt Boulevard Subway Interborough Express and our rolling stock database.
Develop new datasets on railroad electrification and help pursue new transportation decarbonization projects.
Contribute to conference and journal publications.
Required qualifications:
Masters in Urban Planning Data Science Engineering or a highly related field
Demonstrated knowledge of urban transit
Proficiency in data management and project management
Proficient in Python Excel and other related software
