Massage Therapist Survivorship Program - Danbury CT
Full-time; Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Summary:
An outpatient massage therapist is responsible for providing safe and effective therapeutic massage on an outpatient basis to clients with a variety of health conditions. Massage therapist provides therapeutic massage for clients with a variety of health conditions and has the ability to educate employees physicians and patients about the benefits of massage as well as assist them with follow up education to enhance their addition in this fulltime position the therapist would be educated to assist with front desk activities (scheduling checking in checking out) telephone duty and other office functions in the time that they are not performing massage therapy.
Responsibilities:
- Provides massage services for Nuvance Health patients/clients that are safe appropriate and effective for at least 25 hours per week.
- Provides general administrative office duties for the time not performing massage therapy (10-15 hours/week)
- Effectively communicates with the Nuvance IM interdisciplinary team. Attend and contribute to Nuvance IM patient care conferences and departmental meetings. Consult with appropriate treatment staff regarding treatment plans when necessary.
- Effectively communicates and explains procedures appropriate to patient/client needs and preferences.
- Performs and documents initial health history assessment and evaluation of patient/client.
- Performs and documents all sessions performed according to established guidelines.
- Practices appropriate massage therapy techniques.
- Maintains patient/client confidentiality and sensitivity during all patient/client interactions; reports any unusual patient/client interactions to supervisor immediately.
- Develops reviews updates and implement educational materials to meet the needs of patients/clients the general public and professionals.
- Participates in Nuvance IM clinical research projects.
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Performs administrative tasks as needed in the department including scheduling appointments answering phones
- Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values.
- Demonstrates regular reliable and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years consistent employment as a massage therapist. Must be able to build client community and create client schedule.
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- At least 2 years of clinical experience in providing massage therapy
- Additional modality training such as reflexology or Reiki desire
- Current and valid licensure as a Massage Therapist by the State of Connecticut.

Manual: Some manual skills/motor coordination & finger dexterity
Occupational: Some occupational risk
Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt odors noise human waste etc.
