Job Summary:

NIs solutions are characterized by their flexible hardware platforms such as PXI CompactRIO and CompactDAQ allowing users to customize systems according to specific needs through a modular configuration. Additionally NIs solutions offer software integration through LabVIEW a graphical programming environment that facilitates efficient system development debugging and implementation. Furthermore NIs systems excel in scalability and expandability enabling easy scaling up or down to accommodate the size and complexity of projects. This flexibility makes their solutions suitable for a wide range of applications from research and development to manufacturing and maintenance. As an Applications Engineer you will demonstrate the capabilities of NI platforms validate the feasibility of solving customers technical challenges prior to purchase and provide ongoing support to customers in building and optimizing their systems to fully realize the value of NI solutions.

In this Role Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Pre-sales support and demand generation
    • Creation and demonstration of technical proofs of concept and performance benchmarks
    • Creation and presentation of materials for technical concept proposals with solution architectures
    • Collection of customer requirements through technical discussions
    • Creation of proposals for system architectures and hardware/software configurations
    • Quick sales assistance consulting joint customer visits web meetings and conference calls
    • Collaboration with Field AEs Business Managers and Sales to assist in uncovering business opportunities
    • Collection of customer feedback and providing it to Business Managers and R&D team
  • Solution and system delivery
    • Estimate engineering effort on customization and assist in technical risk assessment based on collected customer requirements
    • Implement customer or DUT-specific deliverables (HW/SW) and lead on-site commissioning activities
    • Bridge communication between customer in local and our subject matter experts and delivery project team in global
    • Enable partners in being successful in execution of Partner prime opportunity
  • Post-delivery Support
    • Help troubleshoot and bug fixing on customized systems.
    • Answer to query from users about NIs solutions systems and related applications.
For This Role You Will Need:
  • Bachelors or higher degree in STEM (Science Technology Engineering or Math)
  • Ability to work independently but also in a team of global colleagues.
  • Willingness and motivation to work closely in a business setting facing customers.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese.
  • Confident appearance and excellent presentation skills.
  • 2 years of relevant industry experience in Software Engineering Application Engineering Test Solution Design or ATE Test Development.
  • Demonstrated ability to use one or more programming languages (LabVIEW C# C Python etc.) in software design and implementation with deep understanding of Software Engineering Body of Knowledge.
  • Strong at debugging and solving complex technical problems.
  • Willing to travel domestically and abroad in support of project objectives. (On average up to 25% of the work is expected to involve business travel with occasional trips spanning an entire week.)
  • One day of remote work per week is optional with the minimum four days spent working in the office or at customer sites.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • NI LabVIEW and/or NI TestStand Certifications.
  • Knowledge and experience of NI products such as PXI/cRIO-based modules VeriStand TestStand etc.
  • Deep knowledge or strong background in Automotive technology (AD/ADAS battery motor inverter) test automation and measurement.
