Description

Mission: The Mission of St. PJs Childrens Home is to be a safe and loving refuge for children in crisis and to accompany them on their journey to healing and wholeness breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect one child at a time.

Summary:

The Shelter Supervisor under the general direction of the Shelter Program Director (or designee) assists the Program Director in establishing and directing the overall Shelter operation in a manner that promotes best practices and facilitates the optimum delivery of quality trauma informed services to residents and their children. This position is also responsible for maintaining adequate staffing levels at all times to ensure each residents physical social emotional educational and recreational needs are met.

Position Responsibilities:

  • *This position is responsible for recruitment hiring and training of all staff under their supervision and will make recommendations for termination of employees. Responsible for leadership and daily supervision of direct care staff Team leaders and Weekend Supervisor.
  • *Responsible for scheduling in a manner that meets licensing requirements and ensures the safety of our clients.
  • *Provide staff with verbal and written feedback as it relates to their job performancepositive feedback as well as corrective action when necessary. Communicate staff performance with Program Director.
  • *Ensures staff use trauma informed interventions to help youth develop and maintain their self-regulation skills
  • Communicate expectations to staff as it relates to our trauma informed program and accomplishing program goals.
  • Adhere to and maintain documentation in accordance with contractor requirements state licensing standards funding source requirements St. PJs policies/procedures and all accreditation body requirements.
  • Ensures staff knows understands and utilizes trauma informed care principles and competencies.
  • Provide reflective supervision to promote the supervisees professional development and monitor application of trauma informed care principles.
  • Conduct on the floor observations to monitor Residential Child and Youth Care Professional (RCYCP) and Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) competency progress and provide on-going coaching and mentoring.
  • Ensure adequate staffing which includes submitting hiring requisitions as needed. Will provide coverage in ratio as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Bachelors degree in social sciences or a related field is preferred. High School Diploma required.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 2 years related experience with experience providing oversight and supervision of staff is preferred.
  • License and Credentials
    • Reliable transportation
    • Valid driver license
    • Valid vehicle insurance
    • LCCA or ability to obtain LCCA preferred
  • Must provide immunization/shot records;
  • Submit to a state and federal background check Child abuse and neglect registry check and Tuberculosis screening;
  • Be physically mentally and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Word Excel) and a variety of online database systems managing files and records designing forms and other office procedures and terminology
  • Strong analytical and organization skills and abilities
  • Must be able to read and interpret policy procedures and standards
  • Must be detail oriented organized self-motivated work well independently and on a team
  • Must have good written and verbal skills
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to remain calm and composed in crisis situations

Travel requirements for the position includes 0% local and 0% overnight.
