Full-Time Harris Family Childrens Center Floating Teacher
Pay Range: $24.40 - $25.70 Compensation is based on relevant education and experience and will be set within the listed salary range.
TITLE: Teacher (Float)
REPORTS TO: Director of Harris Family Childrens Center
SCHEDULE: Monday Friday 39 hours weekly. Schedule may vary according to department and Academy needs.

Position Purpose
Co-teaches and implements early childhood instruction in accordance with the Reggio Emilia philosophy. The successful candidate will support a well-rounded curriculum that meets the social emotional intellectual and physical needs of each child in various classrooms as well as supports educational programming and building operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Assists with general programming support and fills staff absences in classrooms.
- Create plan and lead curriculum-based enrichment activities for all classrooms.
- Provides administrative support to assist with programming building operations and office substitution.
- Implements developmentally appropriate and creative curriculum according to the Harris Family Childrens Center (HFCC) Mission New Hampshire Child Care Licensing (NHCCL) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Ethical Code of Conduct.
- Assesses plans and curriculum based on childrens individual needs and levels of development.
- Prepares and distributes classroom newsletter.
- Maintains attendance records.
- Assists in planning of weekly enrichment programs.
- Assigns tasks and sets appropriate guidelines for assistants and ESSO volunteers.
- Plans activities in advance in order to assure that needed supplies and materials are prepared.
- Maintains a clean safe orderly classroom environment which contributes to the physical emotional social and cognitive growth of children.
- Supervises all activities indoors and out to ensure the safety and the well-being of each child.
- Monitors clean-up times and transitions to assure the safety and security of all children. Positions self in classroom and on playground to interact with and guide children.
- Monitors childrens behavior and development and reports concerns or unusual behaviors to Director.
- Participates in and contributes to staff meetings parent/teacher conferences and opportunities for professional development.
- Promotes and maintains confidentiality with information related to children parents and co-workers.
- Interacts with children in a warm nurturing way while providing an appropriate adult role model articulates and encourages cooperative behavior among the children.
- Communicates with parents regarding their childs activities during the day.
- Resolves problems or concerns that may arise with children or parents in conjunction with the teachers and Director.
- Changes diapers and clothing following center protocol.
- Supports the teaching team and the childcare center in a caring and professional manner.
- Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of the HFCC Staff Handbook.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to follow directions maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times including stressful situations to work with children parents and colleagues.

- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficient in MS Office.

Position Requirements
Education
- Associates or Bachelors Degree with at least twelve credits in education/development including three credits in human growth and development.
- Must have CPR and First Aid training or be willing to obtain certification.
Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- 3 years experience with infants toddlers and/or pre-school age children required.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work and will require the ability to remain standing for extended periods of time go up and down flights of steps lift children in carriers and push/pull heavy strollers and wagons as well as stoop kneel and crouch.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs without assistance.
Additional Requirements
- Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
- Successfully complete additional components required for DHHS Childcare Licensing Unit: Upon hire and renewed every 5 years (age restrictions may apply).
