Tarrant Countys Office of Emergency Management and Inter-Jurisdictional Emergency Management Program including but not limited to planning for emergency responses coordinating services when an emergency occurs and facilitating ongoing City-County relationships to ensure readiness. Serves as the primary contact for county-wide coordination for response resources and information relating to emergencies and disasters that would affect County citizens municipalities Tarrant County Government employees and County property. Reports to County Administrator.

Supervisor Responsibilities:
Supervises two full-time Emergency Management staff and oversees related projects and activities. Provides direction and mentoring for Emergency Management interns. Activates and directs the Emergency Management staff and other designated response staff during times of emergency operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in emergency planning public administration fire service public safety or a related field.(If hired must provide proof of educational attainment during onboarding.)
  • Seven (7) years of increasingly responsible emergency management or emergency/disaster response experience.
  • Four (4) years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Valid Texas Drivers License.
  • Must have or complete within one (1) year FEMA NIMS training ICS/ISand 800 level courses.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a technician-level amateur radio license.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in emergency management/planning public administration or a related field.
  • CEM (Certified Emergency Manager) certification.
  • Some chemical/hazardous materials knowledge and experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects. Must constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator copy machine and computer printer. Must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets office machinery etc. May be required to work in the field during emergencies where there may be a need to climb or balance and/or stoop kneel crawl. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Typically requires use of standard office equipment and telephone and related software and hardware; and any other equipment as appropriate or as assigned. During the performanceof duties may be required to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office environment where there may be exposure to computer screen for extended periods of time monitor glare and dust.
