Role: Legal and Data Privacy Assistant - INTERNAL APPLICATIONS ONLY
Location: UK

As a Legal and Data Privacy Assistant this is what youll be doing:
Youll be at the heart of safeguarding QS by ensuring our legal data protection and compliance obligations are consistently met. Your expertise will help protect the trust weve built with students universities and partners worldwide.
You wont just be checking boxes - youll be shaping how we work. From providing clear advice to colleagues to supporting projects that rely on accurate and secure data youll play a vital role in enabling QS to operate with confidence and integrity.
Collaboration is central to our mission and youll work closely with teams across the business to make sure data is used responsibly securely and effectively - helping us unlock insights while protecting what matters most.
Role responsibilities
Contract review
- Review of commercial legal documents including customer contracts supplier contracts and NDAs
- Conduct reviews of privacy documents ensuring they comply with organisational standards risk management strategies and regulatory requirements.
- Where appropriate propose amendments to contract documents.
- Obtain relevant approvals for contracts which do not comply with QS Contracts Policy.
Legal support
- Assisting with corporate legal work such a company filings as required.
- Assist with any relevant legal projects.
- Maintenance of various logs and internal registers .
- Researching and compiling legal information for Legal Team and Senior Leadership Team
- Creation of purchase orders
Privacy inquiries and data subject requests
- Manage and process data subject requests privacy inquires AI transparency or explainability requests and complaints.
Privacy and AI risk assessments
- Conduct assessments to identify privacy risks assess AI tools ensure compliance with applicable legislation and propose risk mitigation strategies.
Data security incidents
- Assess data incidents provide necessary documentation and materials related to data incidents and track and monitor incident trends.
Policy and training development
- Assist in creating and maintaining policies procedures and internal content as required.
- Develop and assess training and to enhance awareness of data privacy and legal issues across the organization.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Work with various teams across the business in a collaborative manner in order to ensure legal and data privacy compliance.
- Any other duties that fall within the purpose and scope of the role.
Key skills and experience
- Good commercial and contractual awareness.
- Knowledge of international laws regulations and frameworks regarding Privacy and Artificial Intelligence.
- Experience working in a commercial legal environment with experience of working in an in-house legal team being advantageous.
- Experience in data protection or compliancematters.
- Ability to handle confidential informationappropriately.
- Ethical with the ability to remain impartial and report all non-compliance.
- Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Good attention to detail.
