Purpose Statement
The Rock Hill Schools Pilot Residency seeks to create and support pathways for paraprofessionals and teaching assistants to become certified classroom teachers. Aligned with a Grow-Your-Own model this initiative will involve strategic partnerships with institutions of higher education (IHEs) and state-approved alternative certification programs to offer rich collaborative experiences that prepare residents for successful teaching careers. Positions in the pilot program are subject to funding and partnership availability.
Essential Functions
The Resident will be employed as a teaching assistant and partnered with a cooperating teacher in the same certification area. The Resident will perform responsibilities and duties of a teaching assistant and participate fully in requirements from their partner program and Rock Hill Schools. The Residency prepares the Resident similarly to that of a traditional internship.
Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Rock Hill Schools. Rock Hill Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time. Placement for Residency is contingent upon school district vacancy and position needs.
