Basic Job Functions:

The primary responsibility of a Fabricator I is to fabricate components cut/weld springs.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Operate grinders stud welder plasma cutter mig welder using .035 wire to fabricate components and weld nuts to product.
  • Measure review and layout materials per the order specs.
  • Inspect and examine work pieces to ensure quality of material meets the requirement of the customer.
  • Knowledge of the product flow and processes.
  • Strong mechanical background
  • Ability to read and interpret reports work instructions and blueprints
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.
  • Requires operating hand tools power tools and pneumatic tools fabrication tools and measuring devices
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintaining instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
