ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Oversee the design and construction of theatrical sets coordinating with set designers lighting designers costume designers sound designers prop coordinators video designers carpenters and scenic artists. Ensure that sets are built safely efficiently and within budget and that they meet the artistic vision of the production.
If qualified may act as a scenic designer and/or lighting designer as assigned.
Assist in oversight of student designers along with directors and faculty.
Coordinate the procurement construction and maintenance of props for productions. Work with prop designers and artisans to ensure that props are created or acquired according to the artistic vision of the production and manage their storage transportation and use during rehearsals and performances.
Oversee the installation and operation of lighting equipment including hanging and focusing lights.
Coordinate backstage activities during rehearsals and performances including cueing actors managing scene changes and ensuring the smooth flow of the production. Serve as a liaison between the production team and the cast and crew to facilitate communication and resolve issues as they arise.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols throughout the production process. Develop and implement safety procedures for rehearsals load-ins and performances to minimize risks to cast crew and audience members.
Supervise and maintain the scene shop.
Support technical theatre courses including assisting with the Production Lab courses.
Oversee production strikes.
Attend production meetings and operations meetings.
Assist with events and performances as assigned in all spaces operated by the Creative School.
Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with Summer Camps and Programs as necessary.
Provide support for both the Green Center for the Performing Arts and Music on the Square.
Work with the Office of the President as requested to support events in the Green Center.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Minimum requirement is a Bachelors degree; degree in technical theatre preferred.
Experience: Experience in design and construction of theatrical scenic elements and technical rehearsal required. Experience with stage lighting and video projections desired.
Communication/Language: Basic: Ability to read listen to and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write and communicate simple correspondence.
Math Ability: Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite Google Calendar and Google Apps and Online Data Entry. Experience with AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks is preferred.
Certificates & Licenses
OSHA 30 training preferred. Qualifications to acquire a Pyrotechnic license from the state of Indiana is desired.
Other Requirements
Extensive organizational skills.
Must be available on some nights and weekends as events occur.
