The Research Assistant will work with the PI of South East Asia SEA-level (SEA2) program to review and synthesise peer-reviewed literature technical reports and modelling studies to evaluate the strengths limitations and assumptions of existing methodologies. The role involves data compilation critical analysis and assisting in the preparation of academic outputs. A key deliverable within the first six months will be the development of a comprehensive research plan outlining a new statistically based methodology for integrating probabilistic sea level rise projections into multi-hazard coastal risk models. Candidates with a background in coastal engineering geoscience environmental science or a related quantitative discipline are encouraged to apply.
Key requirements:
Literature searches and manuscript preparation
Data collection using mixed methodology
Statistical analyses and evidence synthesis
Drafting of progress report(s) and final research report
Research publications and presentations and dissemination of the results
Administrative work associated with the program of research as necessary
Job Requirements:
A Bachelors degree in geoscience coastal engineering environmental science statistics or a related quantitative field.
Strong understanding of coastal hazards particularly sea level rise storm surge and tsunami processes.
Proven experience in conducting literature reviews and meta-analyses with excellent analytical and synthesis skills.
Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools (e.g. R Python MATLAB) and familiarity with probabilistic modelling concepts used in coastal hazards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear reports and contribute to academic publications.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently and meet research deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong sense of team spirit
