Job Description

Summary

Position Summary
The Clinical Dietitian Supervisor evaluates patients nutritional status and history in order to plan recommend and implement nutrition care and education at National Jewish following the guidelines standards and procedures established by the department. Provides assistance to the VP of Clinical Business Operations and is responsible for the supervision ofthe Clinical Nutrition team.

Essential Duties

  1. Manages and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication leadership guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency:recruits interviews selects hires trains orients mentors evaluates coaches counsels disciplines and rewards. Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.
  2. Performs nutritional assessment by using accurate and relevant data and information to identify nutrition-related problems.
  3. Identifies and implements appropriate purposely planned nutrition interventions as part of the patient care team. Prioritizes the nutrition diagnoses conferring with the patient and interdisciplinary team reviewing practice guidelines and policies.
  4. Provides nutritional counseling and education for patients and their families on normal and special nutrition.
  5. Initiates implements and/or modifies orders for diet or nutrition-related care. Manages nutrition support therapies. Perform nutrition related physicals as appropriate.
  6. Documents diet information and recommendations in patient medical records per schedule and standards.
  7. Demonstrates competency in the use of the following department or institution software programs: Tempus Allscripts Affinity Patient Trak Microsoft Word and e-mail. Following key areas as outlined in corresponding competency modules.
  8. Performs special projects to support institution programs as requested. Develops and updates nutrition education materials teaching patient education classes QI participation projects presentations and skills review participation.
  9. Participates in all required in-service team meetings and continuing education as scheduled. Ensures ongoing competency in the field by participating in relevant professional continuing education opportunities.
  10. Maintains a registered and active AND and CDR membership status as well as CDE status if applicable. Provides diabetes self-management education (DSME) and medical nutrition therapy to patients with diabetes and chronic kidney disease.

  5. Building Strategic Relationships: Identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between ones area and other areas teams departments units or organizations to help achieve business goals.
  6. Impact and Influence: Using appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance of ideas or plans; modifying ones own behavior to accommodate tasks situations and individuals involved. Taking advantage of opportunities to make a difference and have an impact. When used well the intended outcome of this competency is the creation of goodwill trust and respect while motivating people to want to follow you even when they dont have to.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition required. Masters Degree preferred.
  2. Work Experience: A minimum of 4 years of recent and related experience is required. 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  3. Special Training Certification or Licensure: Registered Dietitian required. CDE preferred.

Salary Range: $67454.40 - $89208.44
