Job Description:
- Designing and overseeing the implementation of occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Conducting regular reviews and updates of safety programs to ensure compliance with current regulations.
- Performing risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
- Developing strategies to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Overseeing the implementation of risk control measures.
- Developing and delivering safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Promoting awareness of safety protocols and procedures across all levels of the organization.
- Investigating workplace accidents incidents and near-misses to determine root causes.
- Preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Monitoring the implementation of corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Ensuring compliance with local state and national health and safety regulations.
- Liaising with regulatory bodies and participating in audits and inspections.
- Supervising junior safety officers and other safety personnel.
- Acting as a point of contact for safety-related matters within the organization.
- Collaborating with other departments to integrate safety practices into operational processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Science.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry (automotive preferred).
- Certifications such as ISO IOSH OSHA or equivalent are highly desirable.
- 5 years of experience in a safety officer or related role with at least 2 years in a senior capacity.
- Proven track record of implementing and managing safety programs in industrial construction or corporate environments.
