Job Description

Job Summary

The AS/RS Technician II role is primarily responsible for preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of the automated storage & retrieval system (AS/RS). The AS/RS Technician II must be proficient in reading system schematics diagnosing complex hardware and control issues and coordinating directly with logistics personnel and Viastore hotline support to resolve system errors. This role includes documenting all maintenance activities error resolutions and work orders in the facility CMMS software system. The AS/RS Technician II will also support broader facility maintenance tasks as prioritized by the Facilities Manager. Facilities personnel are expected to perform their duties in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves and all employees. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise independent decision-making and effective communication within a team environment.

This is a 2nd shift role.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform preventative maintenance of the distribution centers AS/RS and conveyor equipment.
  • Perform routine scheduled work orders across logistics automation systems.
  • Independently identify troubleshoot and resolve complex logistics system failures.
  • Serve as the primary contact with OEMs (Viastore and other sub-contractors) for system diagnostics and corrective actions.
  • Document and manage the use of spare parts ensuring appropriate inventory replenishment.
  • Analyze and report on system performance metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors for system upgrades repairs and performance enhancements.
  • Provide training and guidance to warehouse team leaders and Technician I staff on system errors and routine troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and update the preventative maintenance schedule in the facilitys CMMS software tool.
  • Participate in logistics planning shift meetings and contribute to maintenance strategy discussions.
  • Document detailed history logs in CMMS software to build a knowledge base for future reference.
  • Perform general facilities maintenance tasks as time permits and as prioritized by the Facilities Manager.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and company safety protocols during maintenance procedures.
  • Follow environmental guidelines for the proper use and disposal of materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 35 years of experience in logistics automation or industrial maintenance with at least 12 years in an ASRS Technician I or equivalent role.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings schematics and control diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of automated systems PLCs and industrial controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead troubleshooting efforts and mentor junior technicians.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS software tools.
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills; ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours a day.
  • Must be able to climb up to 50 feet.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and be able to use own vehicle for local trips to Home Depot etc. (with reimbursement).
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and PRN overtime.
  • Must be willing to support the facility maintenance team in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be able to handle extreme temperatures.
  • Must be able to drive for up to 2 hours.
  • Must be able to speak and understand English to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Regular and on-time attendance.
