Marmon Holdings Inc. (Marmon) is a $12 billion industrial conglomerate with over 200 industrial facilities in North America. Over the past 3 years our Innovation and Automation team has led or assisted with factory and robotic automation projects at multiple facilities and had remarkable success. Weve deployed dozens of new automation systems and pieces of factory equipment. Were now in the process of scaling our team process and reach to execute or assist with dozens of projects per year; as a result were looking for an Engineer and leader with extensive process operations and LEAN experience to join our factory automation team.

This role will involve 30-60% travel. Join us at our mHUB-based location in Chicago or TX/RX Labs-based office in Houston for a hybrid work environment or home-room at one of our many business units thats more local to you. Our work schedule is flexible but in-office schedule of 3 days per week is expected when not traveling.

WHAT YOULL DO

Automation Projects:

• Lead the planning design and implementation of automation projects to enhance production efficiency reduce costs and improve product quality
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production maintenance IT and R&D to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions
• Evaluate and select automation technologies; facilitate purchasing off-the-shelf or guide vendors in their design and build of equipment
• Be hands-on with equipment for the purpose of running tests to understand technology capabilities and reduce project risk

Process Optimization:

• Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvements; also facilitate the implementation of these process improvements with or without new hardware
• Model current state and multiple options for future state processes using value stream mapping
• Conduct time and motion studies data analysis and process simulations to support various initiatives
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives when appropriate to directly generate savings and prepare the business for capital investments

General:

• Conduct cost-benefit analyses for proposed automation projects including ROI calculations to support investment decisions in alignment with Marmon 5-year payback guidelines
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and other team members on best practices
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in automation attend trade shows and industry events as appropriate; share knowledge & insights with the team as applicable

WHAT YOULL BRING TO THE ROLE

• Preferred degree areas: mechanical engineering industrial engineering automation engineering project management and operations
• 5-15 years of experience in operations process engineering LEAN automation and/or similar roles
• Comfortable in ambiguous situations where requirements may be unclear
• Comfortable setting your own agenda to accomplish goals when needed
• Comfortable working in factory environments
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Knowledge of LEAN principles
• Ability to travel domestically 30-60% of the time
• Strong organizational skills
• MUST be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Pay Range:

100000.00 - 150000.00
