Responsible to foster and maintain a positive therapeutic environment within the living unit through consistency positive role modeling nurture and discipline.
Responsible to assure that morning afternoon evening and bedtime routines are met with consistency.
Responsible to follow Living Skills and Recreation activity schedule. Assist in the planning of and participation in all activities to assure that they are beneficial to the childs overall development.
Responsible to utilize techniques designed to redirect and refocus inappropriate behavior while teaching more acceptable alternatives.
Responsible for maintaining a physically safe and clean environment for all children and staff including a thorough knowledge of all emergency procedures.
Responsible for thorough knowledge of and adherence to Residential Program & procedures.
Responsible for fully understanding each childs treatment plan and actively assisting the child in reaching their goals and objectives.
Responsible for completion of all necessary documentation on a daily basis. These include but are not limited to the following: Knowledge of commination book Point Sheets Night Log Incident Report Forms Work Orders.
Responsible to provide feedback to the rest of the treatment team through high quality daily documentation in the clinical record as well as participation in team completion of assessments on each child monthly.
Responsible to transport and supervise children during all scheduled appointments and follow up with the Program Manager.
Responsible for closely monitoring children who are ill and to assist in the distribution of prescribed medication along with over the counter medications as directed by the Medical Staff.
Responsible for thorough and effective communication. Ensuring the flow of all significant information relating to clients program and the facility.
Responsible to attend all team meetings and scheduled in-service training.
Responsible to perform duties in a professional manner in response to clients co-workers and situations in which own values are challenged.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Residential Counselor I- High School Diploma
Residential Counselor II-Bachelors Degree in Human Service field
Experience:
Residential Counselor I- One (1) year of experience working with children in Mental Health or Residential Care programs.
Residential Counselor II-One (1) year of experience preferred working with children in Mental Health or Residential Care programs.
Other: Requires a valid drivers license. A demonstrated ability to maintain professional demeanor during stressful be 21 years of age.
