JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

Acquires data compiles and analyzes internal/external business metrics and trends synthesizes findings identifies strategic and tactical implications and recommendations which includes analysis of quote/policy/claim data and trends; financial performance; underwriting efficiency; and distribution effectiveness to improve growth and profitability.

Assesses our competitive position and makes recommendations relative to the market including share and penetration product and pricing comparisons and perception in the marketplace and recommends solutions to improve.

Develops a deep understanding of rating algorithms products and coverages and how they compare to our competition. Proactively looks for market driven solutions to our current product and coverage offering including rates limits sub-limits exclusions endorsements etc. that will drive Small Business profitability.

Initiates and develops high-level charters for larger efforts that will require formal project and/or program management support.

Facilitates the creation of plans that capture key actions required to execute on the strategy establishes business outcomes and action plans with clear owners and cross-functional accountabilities.

Develops and maintains performance monitoring solutions to track portfolio execution in target areas assess performance and enable adjustments to strategy.

Leads a cross-functional team to produce those analyses by developing analytical tools and frameworks and interpreting and synthesizing findings. This will be accomplished by defining and managing cross-functional work plans and designing and conducting engaging work sessions with cross-functional leaders (Small Business Actuarial Finance Claim WWO and Field) to produce analyses advance thinking and drive decision-making.

May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills Knowledge & Abilities

1. Strong critical thinking analytical and problem solving skills.
2. Ability to develop insights and draw conclusions beyond what is readily apparent.
3. Expert ability to lead teams in a matrixed cross-functional environment with the ability to create and manage work plans across multiple work streams owners and teams.
4. Ability to identify and address barriers to execution and drive outcomes.
5. Strong communication presentation and facilitation skills.
6. Proficiency to facilitate meetings of high complexity.
7. Ability to influence decision-making.
8. Ability to build logical executive-level summaries from relevant quantitative and qualitative information connecting conclusions to business outcomes.
9. Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite Allteryx Tableau (desired knowledge of Visual Basic R SQL and machine learning techniques).

10. Basic underwriting knowledge is desired (i.e. CPCU coursework).

Education & Experience

1. Bachelors degree required ideally with a focus in mathematics finance accounting or other quantitative discipline.

2. Typically a minimum of four to seven years of related work experience.

In certain jurisdictions CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this District of Columbia California Colorado Connecticut Illinois Maryland Massachusetts New York and Washington the national base pay range for this job level is $72000 to $141000 determinations are based on various factors including but not limited to relevant work experience skills certifications and location.
