Job Summary

Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of Auxiliary Services facilities and related mechanical systems. Makes general repairs to buildings interiors exteriors furniture fixtures air conditioning/heating systems and other mechanical and related fields such as plumbing carpentry and electrical. This position requires evening/night/weekend shift work and overtime as needed. Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. In accordance with Policy Statement 18 this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure. Serving in a rotational on call schedule may be needed.

Job Responsibilities

Performs repairs on door handles locks and hinges. Performs routine repairs to vacuums scrubbers burnishers and outdoor power equipment. Hangs pictures dry erase boards and wall boards. Repairs or replaces soap and paper good dispensers. Operates power lifts and an assortment of maintenance related tools and equipment. Makes limited repairs to appliances replaces parts and makes adjustments etc. 20%

Repairs patches and paints walls doors ceilings and columns. Repairs and adjusts doors and door frames. Repairs or replaces floor wall or ceiling tiles. Repairs maintains stains or paints doors and handrails. Repairs furniture tables and carts. Constructs walls cabinets and bookshelves. 20%

Performs routine filter and belt replacements and adjustments on air units and exhaust fans. Performs routine adjustments to air units VAV boxes and exhaust fans. Performs routine adjustments to chillers pumps valves and motors. Reports service issues and discrepancies on HVAC equipment. 15%

Performs routine repairs to commodes urinals sinks flush valves auto-flushers and faucets. Cleans out minor blockages of commodes urinals sinks and floor drains. Performs routine inspection of outside sewer system and grease traps reporting when service is due. 15%

Performs routine repairs of electrical switches outlets and relays. Performs routine replacement of ballasts light sensors and fixtures. Replaces light bulbs and tubes. 15%

Maintains supplies and equipment in storage shop. Tracks and completes assigned work orders. 10%

Performs other duties as assigned. 5%

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades building maintenance maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction construction technology or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management construction technology or engineering or any combination of these courses.
