We are looking for an experienced Senior Android Engineer to join our Merchant Group.

In this role you will build a brand new Merchant Promotions feature that is a greenfield product. The team will build a completely new way for our Merchants to run Merchandising and attract customers.

What youll be doing

• Business Outcomes and Technical Excellence: You own the Android and support iOS components of the team and work closely with Product Management and Business teams in ensuring successful development and releases of this new Merchandising product. You set architecture decisions influence technology stack selection and help steer overall product direction.
• Technical leadership: You provide Technical Leadership in architecting and building key components of a modern Android and iOS application leveraging both existing technology assets and new tools.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: You collaborate fluently with other Engineering teams Staff Engineers and Engineering colleagues as well as stakeholders of all levels from SRE Product Business and Data to ensure successful delivery of your product
• Reliability and Scalability: You will be working on some of the most central parts of our technical ecosystem and you have the skills and experience to ensure quality reliability and stability of all mobile deliveries
• Inspire & Enable: You lead with confidence guiding your team through technical challenges while fostering an inclusive high-performance culture. You implement the roadmap and technological strategy for our new greenfield Merchandising initiative.
• Mentorship & Growth: You mentor and support younger colleagues and clear the way forward with your thought leadership on mobile technologies
• Stakeholder Management: You facilitate alignment on expectations timelines and trade-offsensuring leadership and partners are aligned with your teams work.

This role will be located in Tokyo.

Our humble expectations

• Extensive Android development experience and ability to work on iOS stack.
• Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android app architectures (e.g. MVVM MVI).
• Proven ability to lead technical decisions with a high degree of autonomy and handle ambiguity effectively.
• Experience with UI/UX principles including building polished accessible interfaces aligned with Design guidelines.
• A demonstrated track record of working in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills to work seamlessly with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to navigate reasonable trade offs between short term velocity and long term quality

Nice-to-Haves:

• Interest or foundational experience in Golang or Kotlin backend development.
• Willingness and ability to travel to Europe for in-person team collaboration 2-4 times a year
• Previous experience in start-up environments or working on early-stage products demonstrating adaptability and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Industry Experience: previous experience on advertisement promotion or offering domains and high scale environments
