Work Schedule/FLSA Status:261 Day 12-month / Full Time - Exempt
Salary Schedule: Omaha School Administrators Association (OSAA) Level 6 /Salary credit may be awarded for applicable experience. Placement on the salary schedule will follow theapplicable summary document.
Start Date: TBD for the 2025-26 school year - depending on candidate availability
Position Purpose:The Early Childhood Teaching and Learning Consultant has responsibility for consultation coordination and improvement of instruction curriculum and assessment relative to the goals of the school district and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction Support. This individual works to provide educational opportunities which will enable all students to achieve their highest potential through work with teachers instructional leadership teams and staff students parents and the community. This individual also has responsibility for the district wide development coordination and articulation of the early childhood program and our goal of all students reading on grade level by 2030.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Coordinates with other elementary early childhood school professional staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum model support and coach instruction.
- Provide expertise in the use of assessments and feedback.
- Supervises early childhood curriculum instruction and programming.
- Collaborates to provide support and partnership with school staff and all central office administration staff.
- Writes and develops early childhood curriculum as needed.
- Develops and trains early childhood in blended and online learning.
- Demonstrates knowledge of best research based instructional practices.
- Implements and ensures best practices in early childhood are performed in all classrooms.
- Conducts District-wide staff observations and coaching visits.
- Creates and delivers professional development throughout the year including Curriculum Days New Teacher Meetings and remote learning sessions for all teachers and staff.
- Provides additional support to all new teachers in early childhood education.
- Administers OPS staff appraisal process with approval from Elementary Executive Director.
- Models best practices in providing in-person and online professional development to early childhood education teachers and leaders.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars workshops or professional meetings or by conducting research.
- Works with an understanding of a diverse student population and equity and leads with the belief that every child every day will be prepared for success.
- Shows evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by district policy as well as the State Board of Education.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the mission & vision of the OPS district.
- Collaborates with Early Development Network staff to ensure successful transitions from Early Development Network services to early childhood settings.
- Collaborates with district early childhood team to ensure all early childhood classrooms are inclusive in their practices.
- Demonstrated philosophy that all children can learn.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Masters Degree with appropriate course work in Early Childhood Elementary Education Administration Supervision Personnel Educational Psychology or related field required.
- A valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with endorsement in the area of administration and supervision required and Early Childhood endorsement preferred.
- A minimum of five years successful teaching experience in early childhood instruction preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students including Head Start regulations and program requirements childcare licensing requirements Special Education and related services for students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of procedures and best practices for implementing and sustaining an inclusive exemplary developmentally appropriate early childhood program.
- Knowledge of the process and curriculum content related to early childhood instruction (language literacy and numeracy).
- Understanding of and ability to support the implementation of our goal to haveall students reading on grade level by 2030.
- Exemplary organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to plan and deliver high quality professional development.
- Ability to provide instructional coaching.
- Ability to demonstrate skills pertinent to positive relationships and the ability to work effectively with instructional staff students parents administrators and the community.
- Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of OPSs mission purpose goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Equipment: This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers copiers scanners and fax machines. Must always comply with OPSs guidelines for equipment use.
Travel:Travel between OPS schools and the Central Office will be required.

- Work in school building environments.
Interrelations:
- Contact with personnel within the district and other stakeholders.
- Will be working under the direct supervision of the building administration in order to complete day to day tasks.

- Expected to interact with all internal and external stakeholders in a friendly professional manner and provide quick responsive service.
Employee Punctuality and Appearance
- In order for schools to operate effectively employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday unless the employee has received approved leave.
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employees supervisor or building administrator.
- All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Omaha Public Schools and is appropriate for their position.
Terms of Employment
This position is treated as a full-time exempt certified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment or teaching in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies as those laws and policies may change from time to time. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.
Terms of employment are contingent upon:
- Verification of a valid Nebraska Teaching License or other required license.
- A background check which demonstrates background is acceptable for the position sought and working with or around students.
- Verification of U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of a tuberculosis skin test (if required by federal law for your position).
- Execution and delivery to OPS of an Administrator Contract presented by OPS.
