The Opportunity
Our valued client is seeking a Commercial Manager - Transport you will be responsible for overseeing commercial operations vendor management financial planning and strategic decision-making to enhance transport efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The role requires strong analytical skills financial acumen and the ability to drive process improvements in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Resource Planning & Vendor Management team to generate performance reports and ensure optimal resource planning for uninterrupted transport operations.
- Validate the annual transport budget ensuring accuracy alignment with strategic goals and presenting findings to senior management.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance providing regular reports and commercial recommendations to executive leadership.
- Work closely with Transport Operations to optimize departmental budgets and guide financial decision-making.
- Evaluate and approve transport investments to ensure strategic business cases yield maximum benefits.
- Provide commercial insights and risk assessments to support executive decision-making and align activities with overarching company goals.
- Coordinate between transport operations procurement teams and senior management for seamless commercial execution.
- Analyze market trends competitive bidding processes and operational efficiencies to identify areas of improvement and cost savings.
- Conduct regular performance reviews of commercial activities using key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Validate new and existing transport rates ensuring favorable contractual terms while maintaining compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Key Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Transport Management Logistics or Business Administration (preferred).
- 10-15 years of experience in senior management roles within third-party logistics (3PL) or transport operations with a strong commercial and financial background.
- Excellent stakeholder management negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities with the capability to perform under pressure.
- Market research expertise with the ability to identify cost-effective strategies and process improvements.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) with excellent reporting skills.
- Highly adaptable self-motivated and result-oriented in a fast-moving environment.
