The Lead ERP Specialist is a senior-level role responsible for the strategic planning implementation optimization and support of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. This individual acts as the primary liaison between business units technical teams and external vendors ensuring the ERP system supports core business functions and drives operational efficiency. The role combines deep ERP technical expertise with leadership project management and business process knowledge to deliver scalable secure and high-performance ERP solutions.
ERP Strategy & Leadership
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for the organizations ERP system (e.g. SAP Oracle Microsoft Dynamics Epicor etc.).
Lead ERP system planning design configuration deployment and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with executive leadership to align ERP initiatives with organizational goals and business needs.
Develop and maintain ERP roadmap ensuring scalability and adaptability to future requirements.
Project Management
Lead and manage end-to-end ERP projects including upgrades integrations and module rollouts.
Oversee project timelines budgets resource allocation and risk mitigation.
Facilitate change management processes and ensure smooth adoption of new system features or upgrades.
System Implementation & Support
Oversee configuration of ERP modules and workflows based on business requirements.
Manage data migrations system testing and validation processes.
Provide ongoing system maintenance troubleshooting and user support.
Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with SLAs and security policies.
Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
Act as a liaison between IT and business departments to translate functional needs into technical solutions.
Lead and mentor ERP analysts developers and administrators.
Conduct stakeholder training and produce documentation on system usage and best practices.
Vendor & Partner Management
Evaluate and manage ERP vendors consultants and third-party integrations.
Negotiate contracts licenses and service agreements.
Ensure vendor solutions meet company standards and regulatory compliance.
Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science Business Administration or a related field.
Masters degree or MBA (preferred).
Experience:
7 years of experience working with ERP systems in a business analyst developer or implementation role.
3 years in a leadership or team lead position.
Proven experience with full-cycle ERP implementations and upgrades.
Technical Skills:
Deep knowledge of one or more ERP platforms (SAP Oracle Epicor Microsoft Dynamics Infor etc.).
Experience with ERP reporting tools and business intelligence (e.g. Power BI Tableau Crystal Reports).
Understanding of relational databases SQL and system integrations (APIs EDI etc.).
Familiarity with IT governance cybersecurity and compliance standards (e.g. SOX GDPR).
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Leadership team-building and mentoring abilities.
High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
ERP-specific certifications (e.g. SAP Certified Application Associate Oracle Certified Professional NetSuite Administrator).
Project management certifications (PMP PRINCE2 Agile).
May require occasional travel to company sites or vendor locations.
Ability to work flexible hours during system rollouts or upgrades.
