POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Quality Control Technician in the R&D pilot line you will play a hands-on role in verifying and validating the quality of new product builds through inspection auditing and issue detection. Your focus will be on ensuring that early-stage builds meet internal and customer quality standards before scaling up production. Will interact closely with Quality Managers and NPI assembly teams to ensure risks are detected and addressed at the earliest phase. You will also assist in generating Product Quality Plan documentation that outlines quality requirements and inspection points throughout the product lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform in-process and finalqualityaudits through visual dimensional andfunctional checks on prototypes and pilot units duringNPIbuilds toverify conformance to assembly drawings BOMs and work instructions.
  • Check work instructions build travellers and inspection records for accuracy and completion.
  • Audit assembly processes for adherence to specifications workmanship andIPC standards.
  • Record classify and escalatequalityissues in real time using the defined QMS tools.
  • Work closely with engineers and technicians to identify root causes and validate corrections.
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAI) and validate rework effectiveness.
  • Monitor and track keyNPIqualitymetrics like FPY and build conformance.
  • Provide feedback on design or process issues encountered during audit and inspection.
  • Assist in training build operators and technicians onqualitycriteria and defect awareness.
  • Collaborate withNPIQualityProgram Manager in generating ProductQualityPlan documentation including inspection checkpointsqualitycontrol requirements and critical-to-quality(CTQ) elements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position is an in person role and based in the Redwood City CA office.
  • Environment: Office setting and engineering lab

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings BOMs and assembly documentation.
  • Basic understanding of defect categorization rework tags and NCR processes.
  • Strong attention to detailsand ability to clearly communicate audit findings to both operators and engineers.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry documentation and reporting.

Desired

  • Familiarity with QMS standards (ISO 9001)IPC-A-610and R&D prototyping environments
  • Prior experience in pilot lines new product builds or prototype audit environments

EXPERIENCE:

  • 0 3 years of hands-on experience inqualityinspection orNPIsupport role.
  • Experience with hands-on inspection tools (e.g. calipers microscopes multimeters).

EDUCATION:

  • Diploma or technical certification in Electronics Mechanical or Quality disciplines.

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including but not limited to skill set level of experience and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $24.00 per hour to $31.00 per hour.
