The Manager or Associate Accounting plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing our financial accounting processes including financial closures and tax filings ensuring accurate financial reports compliance with accounting standards and effective revenue and inventory control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Support the financial closing processes on a monthly quarterly and annual basis contributing to timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Help maintain adherence to accounting standards and participate in the control over significant financial areas to bolster the organizations financial stability and growth.
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and conducting reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
- Contribute to financial data analysis for identifying trends variances and areas for improvement.
- Support compliance efforts with internal controls policies and procedures.
- Engage with the finance team to assist and improve ERP system functionalities.
- This role reports to the Associate Director of Accounting Operations in Tokyo Japan and is part of a large Global Finance team. Opportunities for role rotation within the Finance department may be available for career development.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role is preferred.
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles including knowledge of Japanese GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience with improvement initiatives related to accounting systems and processes.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel and PowerPoint along with hands-on experience in ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle. Willingness to further enhance system-related capabilities is essential.
- Openness to innovation and creative problem-solving.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in corporate tax filings is advantageous.
- Proven experience and understandingof internal controls and compliance frameworks is advantageous including the design implementation and monitoring of control processes to ensure financial accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Native-level proficiency in Japanese (reading writing and verbal).
- Business-level proficiency in English is advantageous.
