Job Description

TERMS

Your current home employerremains your employer during the period in which you perform your contribution to the Center.

OVERVIEW

Join us on our mission to decarbonize the shipping industry by leading and accelerating the deployment of alternative fuels and energy technologies.

Onboard understanding of the hazards associated with new alternative fuels and how to manage these forms a critical step change in the maritime ecosystem. Development of safety frameworks risk management and operational procedures and guidelines will be vital to enable a sustainable transition in scale.
ORGANIZATION AND TEAM
  • You will join the Fleet Transition Impact Hub team and contribute/lead research studies related to safety and human factors together with our partners and collaborators.
  • You will contribute to Center project activities within own area of expertise. Additionally we expect you to contribute to the Centers activities by providing ideas insights and knowhow that can have impact on the maritime industry transition.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support ideation and scoping of safety and operations relevant projects with subject matter expertise input
  • Contribute with and activate sound technical and operational expertise in Center projects
  • Develop and advise on Human Factor considerations that enable safe management of new fuels onboard vessels
  • Support development of standards and guidance for seafarer competence and training
  • Interact closely with partners in and outside the Center to scope projects manage project activities and leverage know how
  • Deliver professional and structured project execution and reporting output
WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE
  • Contribute and lead assigned Fleet Transition Impact Hub projects incl. projects related to safety pilot/demonstrators and risk management
  • Utilize own partner knowhow and resources to drive projects
  • Project delivery according to project plans and targets
  • Support Human Factor related Center projects in order to provide industry with relevant guidance on alterative fuels
CONTENT KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCES NEEDED
  • Professional background from disciplines as: Maritime Operations Operational Safety Management Process Safety Management Human Factors Chemical Risk Engineering
  • Alternative background; Design Safety or System Safety Design
  • Solid project and stakeholder management skills
  • Abilities to lead projects is desirable
  • Ability to develop structure and convey technical written information in an effective and impactful manner towards a broad audience.
  • Ability to support the industry to establish sound requirements for alternative fuels through IMO.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

  • Understanding of and practical experience with risk management methodologies and core safety processes incl. Risk Assessment HAZID HAZOP and MoC.
  • Experience in ship and port operations incl. cargo handling and bunkering experience LPG LNG or Chemicals (especially Ammonia)
  • Safety Management Systems and Safety standards development.
  • Crew competence & training knowledge and experience
  • Experience from energy majors or class societies is advantageous.
  • Seagoing experience is advantageous
