ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Group Technical Director you will play a pivotal role in driving the technological innovation and engineering excellence at Kam Yuen Group a leading company in the Engineering industry. Reporting directly to the senior leadership team you will be responsible for overseeing the companys technical operations leading a team of talented engineers and spearheading strategic initiatives that align with the organizations overall objectives.
MAIN PURPOSE
Provide leadership strategic planning and engineering/technical direction for all new products under development from concept through production as well as to oversee sustaining engineering processes and cost reduction programs of existing products. Boost up the engineering capabilities in product development machinery utilization and fabrication so as to achieve cost effective manufacturing at optimal output capacity. Create & implement best practice engineering vision strategy policies processes procedures to aid & improve mechanical parts business performance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILIES
- Provide long term strategic planning and engineering support to new customers and new projects in precision metal manufacturing and sub-assemblies
- Develop equipment processes and materials for mass marketing and internal usage
- Design and Develop Automation Solutions and Systems from concept preparing prototype sample testing and final approval to development
- Lead related technical and engineering from concept design testing to production; through incorporating technology value engineering and cost reduction measures.
JOB RESPONSBILITIES(
- Interface with customers on new projects and manage quotation DFM NPI and FAE activities. Ensure projects are seamlessly transfer to mass production with target costing quality and reliability standards
- Identify opportunities for improvement to existing products and processes which offer enhancements to marketability cost containment function quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Assume responsibility for the whole product development process starting from market analysis business plan conceptualization prototypes laboratory testing and final approval to invest in the development product.
- Work with operation and outside suppliers to develop precision metal module sub-assembly business which involve plastics PCBA cable etc.
- Interact with R&D sales and marketing and customers /suppliers technical services to define new product development opportunities and develop specific product requirements.
- Keep abreast of the latest engineering development technique and trends in the markets; effect necessary changes internally.
- Boost up the engineering capabilities in new product development machinery utilization and fabrication so as to achieve cost effective manufacturing at optimal output capacity.
- Provide guidance advice and support to engineers in areas of project leadership technical consultation documentation quality engineering disciplines interfaces with other functions company policy and procedures.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritise technological opportunities that drive business growth and competitive advantage
- Monitoring industry trends emerging technologies and best practices to inform the companys engineering roadmap and decision-making
- Fostering a culture of continuous improvement encouraging team members to explore new ideas and implement innovative approaches
- Mentoring and developing the engineering team supporting their professional growth and career advancement
- Ensuring compliance with relevant engineering standards regulations and safety protocols
REQUIREMENTS
- Masters in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic Engineering Physics Applied Physics Optical Engineering or related fields (PhD is preferred)
- At least 20 years in a senior engineering leadership role in the capacity of equipment design and product development
- A result-oriented data champion supporting strategic business initiatives
- Strong in project management sound timely decision making delegation and process management.
- Self-driven with strong leadership; good interpersonal savvy with excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong business sense result oriented and able to work under pressure.
- Proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects and driving technological innovation
- Excellent problem-solving critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Familiarity with industry-specific regulations standards and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
