About the Team

The Identity Intelligence teams mission is to eliminate threats and empower the growth of the DoorDash business by providing the source of truth for User Identity and the relationships of connected identifiers. We provide protection across DoorDashs external-facing endpoints. We are making dedicated investments into this space to drive major business impact for teams across DoorDash.

Our team is foundational and sits at the intersection of many other teams serving critical needs related to user identification attestation and device intelligence. We envision our systems to be highly reliable providing the source of truth for identity-related data with high quality invaluable and accurate information. This empowers teams to make the best business decisions whether solving for fraud or unlocking growth.

We are focused on building extensible platforms enabling teams to easily and quickly leverage the systems to build critical features. Improving engineering velocity with self-serve tooling and seamless end-to-end integrations that can deliver data insights from the client to the backend system is a key priority.

Our domain currently includes:

  • Identity Graph: Providing the source of truth for User Identities and relationships between all entities.
  • Attestation: Ensuring all requests to DoorDash servers are legitimate including protection against bot traffic.
  • Device: Uniquely and accurately identifying physical devices that access DoorDash and providing device-related insights.

About the Role

As the Engineering Manager Identity Intelligence you will oversee a talented group of engineers collaborating closely with designers product managers operations and other cross-functional partners. Your primary responsibility will be driving the successful execution of our product roadmap ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality solutions that meet both customer needs and business objectives. You will be key in fostering a collaborative and cross-functional work environment and promoting effective communication and synergy amongst team members. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills who can balance technical excellence with business priorities especially in the critical domain of identity and security. You will report into Arjun Mukhopadhyay ().

Youre excited about this opportunity because you will

  • Lead and grow a team of exceptional engineers empowering through delegation and delivering end-to-end engineering solutions for Identity Intelligence systems.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers Business leaders and key stakeholders to determine the teams roadmap and vision and manage execution against that roadmap focusing on the strategic technical vision for Identity Graph Attestation and Device Intelligence.
  • Provide architectural guidance and professional development for a team of 5 particularly in the context of building reliable scalable and extensible platforms for identity data.
  • Encourage innovation teamwork implementation of cutting-edge technologies (including ML-based solutions) and outside-of-the-box thinking to address complex identity and security challenges.
  • Oversee the hiring process for your team in partnership with recruiting to grow a diverse and inclusive team with expertise in areas like distributed systems data engineering and security.

Were excited about you because you have

  • BS M.S. or Computer Science or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in people management leading backend teams of 5 engineers including a staff engineer.
  • 7 years of industry experience.
  • Experience working with remote teams in different time zone(s) and fluency in English.
  • Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast-paced product-focused development environment.
  • Experience with distributed system design system scaling and performance optimization especially in the context of data-intensive and security-critical systems.
  • Hands-on leadership and strong product intuition with a keen understanding of identity and security concerns.
  • Humility - willing to get into the details and open to feedback.
  • Growth mindset - youre eager to expand your skill set and excited to carve out your career path in a hyper-growth setting.
  • Adaptability resiliency and ability to thrive in ambiguity - things can change quickly and youll need to help the team evolve.
  • Familiarity with concepts related to Identity Graph Attestation and Device Intelligence
  • Understanding of data quality monitoring and analytics in the context of identity data.
  • Interest in exploring and implementing ML-based solutions for identity and security challenges.
