Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Opportunity
This position will be located in Abbott Park IL or Chicago IL.
Abbotts Global Procurement Services (GPS) is a corporate division supporting procurement and supply chain activities across all Abbott businesses. The Supply Chain Sustainability (SCS) team partners across Abbott businesses and functions (such as Operations Supply Chain EHS Legal External Affairs etc.) as well as strategic external partners to drive the strategic direction and management of supply chain sustainability governance and programming to all levels of the organization. The Specialist reports to the corporations Manager of Supply Chain Sustainability Due Diligence within GPS:SCS team.
The Supply Chain Sustainability Associate Specialist is responsible for supporting Abbotts supply chain sustainability programming. This role will work closely with various functions and divisions across the Abbott organization to drive supply chain sustainability in support of Abbotts 2030 Supply Chain Sustainability Goals and external expectations.
What Youll Work On
Support the design implementation and continuous improvement of supply chain sustainability programs aligned with Abbotts strategic goals and external regulatory and stakeholder expectations.
Provide coordination project management and support across a range of supply chain sustainability programs spanning supplier due diligence reporting and analytics training and supplier communications.
Support all aspects of Abbotts Supply Chain Sustainability supplier audit (desktop and/or onsite) program covering human rights environmental and sustainability risks.
Contribute to the enhancement of Abbotts supply chain sustainability programs including due diligence and other program areas.
Ensure the systems and processes supporting Abbotts Supply Chain Sustainability Due Diligence are effective and efficient.
Coordinate activities and communications across Abbott supplier and other stakeholder groups.
Support implementation of enterprise-level supplier sustainability programs. Integrate sustainability criteria into procurement processes through effective project management and data governance.
Maintain and improve tools systems and processes for tracking sustainability performance. Ensure timely accurate reporting to both internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and deliver training guidance and communications to build sustainability competencies across procurement teams and supplier networks.
Promote Abbotts sustainability values and expectations in all supplier and stakeholder interactions reinforcing the companys commitment to ethical and responsible sourcing.
Provide operational support to the SCS team including invoice processing assist with contract management and sourcing activities such as initiating and managing Statements of Work (SOWs) Purchase Order Change Notices (POCNs) and sourcing requests related to the Supply Chain Sustainability program.
Required Qualifications
Systems thinker with the ability to understand and manage complex interdependencies across global supply chains and sustainability frameworks.
Bachelors degree required preferably in Science Engineering Business Finance Supply Chain Environmental Studies Sustainability or equivalent.
Must be proficient in Microsoft 365 tools including Outlook Excel Word Power Point SharePoint Power Automate and OneNote. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBi)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data identify trends and develop actionable insights.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience engaging cross-functional teams and external stakeholders including suppliers.
Ability to prioritize and communicate progress challenges and offer solutions
Demonstrated sound judgment and risk-based thinking to navigate ambiguous situations.
Adaptable and resilient with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced global environment where priorities shift and collaboration across multiple teams and leaders is essential.
Project management experience with the ability to support initiatives from concept to execution manage timelines and deliver measurable outcomes.
Experience in invoice management.
Preferred Qualifications
Subject matter expertise in sustainability and ESG topics preferred.
Strong communications skills (power point presentations mass communications campaigns presentations analysis summaries etc.).
High degree of customer satisfaction/responsiveness in a variety of communications outlets (email presentations business meetings etc.).
Experience working collaboratively and building strong partnerships across teams.
Experience with sustainability platforms (e.g. EcoVadis Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Sedex).
Ability to make independent decisions and demonstrate a high level of initiative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
Interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences while optimizing overall organizational goals.
Good interdisciplinary intercultural influence and networking skills.
