Schedule: M-F 10:30a-6:30p. 40 hours/week.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Shelter Manager the Intake Coordinator guides emergency guests through the shelter admission process. The responsibilities may include but are not limited to assisting guest in completing forms securely gather appropriate information to document assist with case management directives gives direction to guests on assigned shift and perform administrative duties. Where appropriate the Coordinator will provide referrals to internal Open Door Mission services or community partners. This position is not to drive.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Service Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day supervision and support to shelter guests.
- Provides life saving techniques in response to on-site crisis including the use of first aid cpr and Narcan.
- Attend staff huddles on assigned shifts and encouraged to participate in monthly staff meetings.
- Perform any duties necessary for effective and efficient operation of community residence.
- Complete tasks assigned by leadership that maintains cleanliness and safety standards.
- Under the direction of Shelter Manager or Supervisor may facilitate a group for mental health social spiritual recreational housing and other basic needs.
- Observe all safety rules and regulations for self and others; utilizing appropriate de-escalation strategies informing security of concerns as they arise and/or notifying emergency personnel as needed.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Coordinate the intake of guests into men and womens shelter
- Provide assessment of mental health substance use and medical needs
- Document shelter guest attendance at intake monitor and document activity and behavior utilizing Mission Tracker
- As needed track and document financial assistance funds and/or funds that a client may receive from various income sources such as SSI disability employment etc. to assist Case Management in determining housing eligibility
- Assist case management in application process for program eligible guests for housing utilizing HMIS
- As needed collect verify and secure all necessary documentation for residents and determine potential barriers that clients may face when attempting to obtain assistance and/or housing
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and trainings as required by leadership and work as a member of the shelter team for each guest
- Regularly practices adherence to Facility/Program/Open Door Mission standards and ensures documentation/policy requirements are followed
- Utilize Mission Tracker and email to record report and communicate client information
- Maintain appropriate and timely communication with staff and management especially regarding critical incidents
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

- Exercise compassion discernment and model appropriate boundaries
- Strong organizational skills with proficiency in accurate data entry
- Upholds the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality
- Requires knowledge of community resources and Department of Human Services
- Requires technical literacy for generating office communication via email and client databases
- Knowledge of HMIS VI-SPDAT helpful
- Able and willing to honor the leadership chain of command standards and ministry objectives of ODM
- Must maintain a high degree of trustworthiness and reliability
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:

- Requires working with a diverse population many of whom struggle with homelessness addiction and mental illness -continuously
- Environment may be odorous due to lack of personal hygiene and intoxication of guests -frequently
- Requires a sustained level of high energy stamina and the ability to move about all of the facilities on a regular and ongoing basis -frequently
- May be extremely loud at times -occasionally
- May be exposed to behaviorally aggressive guests
- May be exposed to unsanitary conditions
- See hear smell and speak clearly -continuously
- Able to climb stairs of a multisite building numerous times per shift

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Requires some experience with human services and/or social services
- Some familiarity with case management practices
- Associates degree in human services case management or related degree helpful
