The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Child and Family Services Division / Policy and Technical Assistance Unit.
This position ensures programs policies and technical assistance lead to positive outcomes of safety permanency and well-being for children who have been adopted are in a legal guardianship or are in the process of finalizing permanency. This position serves as an expert on adoption and guardianship develops and completes post-permanency services provides oversight and completes negotiations for adoption and guardianship assistance agreements. This position may also license the private adoption agencies in Montana and grant oversight responsibilities.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity
Knowledge of program management and social services.
Negotiation and conflict management skills.
Ability to work independently with general supervision focusing on meeting Division goals and objectives.
Meet minimum qualifications:
Bachelors degree in social work human services or public administration.
Three years of program management experience in child protective services licensing or related field.
Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Preferred: Masters degree in social work human services or public administration.
Preferred: Knowledge of child protective services family-centered practice and adoption and adoption assistance Federal and State laws regulations and policies including Medicaid.

This position may be eligible for partial teleworkwithin the state of conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.
This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.00 an hour base pay increase effective July 1 2026.
This position supports the Child and Family Services Division which includes the following cities: Helena Kalispell Great Falls Miles City Missoula Butte and Billings. Work locations will vary depending on availability and community needs.
