Continuous Improvement Specialist

Position Summary:

Catalents Kansas City facility is home to our Oral & Specialty Drug Delivery Biologics Analytical Services and Clinical Supply Services businesses. The site provides a range of integrated services for oral solid dosage forms from formulation development and analytical testing to clinical and commercial-scale manufacturing. The Kansas City facility is a Center-of-Excellence for our Biologics Analytical Services business. Our talented team has over 25 years of experience providing analytical services for stand-alone and integrated biologics projects.

Catalent in Kansas City MO is hiring a Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist. The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for helping drive continuous improvement (CI) efforts for the sites Clinical Supply & Packaging business unit. Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Leader this person is a dedicated resource responsible for lean transformation using LEAN Six Sigma and other advanced problem-solving tools in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment.

This is a full-time on-site salaried position: Monday-Friday with standard day shift hours.

The Role:

  • Lead and/or support Operational Excellence projects that improve the People Safety Quality Delivery and Cost (PSQDC) business results for the business unit following the site governance process
  • Lead activities such as time and motion studies process flow and value stream mapping standard work etc.
  • Lead or enable others to execute problem-solving activities Kaizen and Six Sigma projects. Assist in the advancement of Lean Six Sigma training for teams
  • Work with process owners to analyze and present data to enable process improvements
  • Assist colleagues to identify continuous improvement opportunities throughout the organization by routinely performing GEMBA walks throughout the day preparing site metrics gathering Voice of the Customer data etc.
  • Assist colleagues to prioritize and select projects that leverage LEAN six sigma tools to drive improvements through the hierarchy of People Safety Quality Delivery & Cost
  • With inputs from leadership develop materials to communicate to the site using various mediums that reinforce Patient First Customer Centric and other Catalent values to assist with deployment of information education of the community and engagement in initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

The Candidate:

  • High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelors degree in a scientific field highly preferred. Lean Six Sigma Certification is a plus
  • Prior experience in Operations Manufacturing or Supply Chain is required
  • Experience with advanced problemsolving methodologies preferred. Must be a results-oriented change-agent
  • Demonstrated project-management skills. Demonstrated ability to lead by influence and drive results through others not under direct supervision must be able to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement tools such as Kaizen Gemba 5S PSQDC DMAIC/A3 etc. preferred
  • Physical Requirements: On an average 8-hour day this position requires the ability to walk sit and stand use hands to handle or feel reach with hands and arms at or above shoulder height and below waist height climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl; talk and hear smell and lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision requirements including reading of written documents visual inspection of materials and use of computer monitor screen frequently
