Job Purpose:
The Feed Mill Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the feed mill operations under the supervision of the Executive Director. This includes ensuring safety overseeing maintenance supervising staff and maintaining quality and quantity control of feed inventory.
Major Job Responsibilities

Prepare annual and monthly operating budgets aligned with sales forecasts.

Monitor and manage the feed mill budget to reduce production costs.

Ensure minimum stock levels of finished feed in accordance with company policy.

Plan effectively to ensure continuous availability of feeds and stay updated on trends in animal feed formulation.

Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports for the department.

Maintain plant machinery building and related infrastructure.

Oversee the laboratory testing program to ensure nutritional analysis of raw materials and finished products.

Train plan coordinate and monitor departmental activities for efficiency and productivity.

Lead the production team to meet operational goals related to quality yield cost delivery and output.

Enforce batch control and traceability procedures.

Comply with all housekeeping safety and quality policies and procedures.

Oversee preventive maintenance and ensure timely and quality repairs using appropriate parts.

Perform any other duties assigned by management from time to time.

Experience and Qualifications
Professional Experience

Several years of experience in feed production Quality control or related industry preferably in a leadership role.

Proven ability to advise senior-level stakeholders.

Strong interpersonal communication and computer skills.
Certifications:
1. Quality management certifications: Such as ISO 9001 or similar standards.
2. Feed safety certifications: Such as those offered by the International Feed Safety Alliance (IFSA) or the National Feed Safety System (NFSS) is an added advantage
Industry Knowledge:
1. Feed regulations: Understanding of local and national regulations governing feed production.
2. Animal nutrition: Knowledge of animal nutritional requirements and feed formulation.
3. Feed production processes: Understanding of feed production processes including grinding mixing and pelleting.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelors degree: Typically in animal science agriculture food science or a related field.
