The Role
Were looking for a Data Scientist whos passionate about using data to shape how millions of people experience entertainment. At Viaplay our data science team works at the heart of personalization customer engagement and product innovation.
In this role youll help design and evaluate models uncover insights and collaborate closely with engineers product managers and content teams to bring ideas to life. From improving recommendations to understanding user behavior your work will directly impact how our audiences connect with Viaplay.

What Youll Be Doing
- Design train and deploy machine learning and statistical models for recommendations predictions and classifications
- Translate business questions into data-driven problems and deliver clear actionable insights
- Collaborate with product engineering content commercial and marketing teams to shape data-informed decisions
- Analyze large datasets to understand user behavior content performance and platform trends
- Work with engineers to bring models into production and monitor their performance
- Share knowledge learn from others and contribute to a culture of curiosity and experimentation
What were looking for
We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and thats why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But in order to thrive in this role we do believe youll have at least some experience in the following:
- 3 years of hands-on experience in applied Data Science or Machine Learning
- Experience running projects end-to-end: framing problems prototyping models and analyzing performance
- Proficiency in Python and SQL experience with data transformation using Spark
- Strong analytical and statistical skills with experience designing experiments or A/B tests
- Knowledge of data pipeline tools such as Airflow or similar
- Clear communication skills able to translate complex results into simple actionable insights
- A background in Computer Science Statistics Mathematics or another quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience)
Its a bonus if you have:
- Experience with recommender systems personalization or content optimization
- Familiarity with causal inference methods
- Understanding of MLOps practices and collaboration with ML Engineers
- Experience in media streaming or e-commerce
