Join HubSpot as a Technical Lead Backend on the Growth Engagement team
At HubSpot were committed to building products that enable millions of businesses to grow better. We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead to join our Backend Engineering team within the Growth Engagement group.
In this role youll own the backend services that power the entire freemium journey from first touch to upgrade. Youll partner with AI engineers product managers designers and marketers to deliver a seamless data-driven funnel that acquires engages and converts millions of users. If you thrive on leading small high-impact teams love shipping quickly and get excited about weaving AI into every step of the customer path wed love to meet you. As a Technical Lead you will provide technical leadership mentor team members and play a crucial role in the strategic decision-making process ensuring our backend technologies meet the demands of a rapidly changing market. Key Expectations for Technical Lead:
- A Tech Lead is a player-coach responsible for leading a small team.
- They are recognized as high-performing engineers.
- They collaborate with Product Design Data Science and other Tech Leads in their family to define and share relevant compelling and challenging goals for their team.
- They work across teams with other TLs to resolve cross-team issues.
- They proactively take ownership of their teams on-call health and product reliability and quality.
- They have an interest and opinion in the direction of the product. They do not defer this over to the PM or PD or others. Instead they are an active member of the teams leadership triad co-setting the direction for the team.
- They proactively look to grow the members of their team to enable them to take on harder and harder tasks.
- They are creating and fostering diverse teams and an inclusive culture.
Were looking for:
- A strong senior engineer with experience leading small teams using Java
- Open to experimentation and new ways of doing things. Values a working solution much more highly than the optimal solution.
- A customer-centric attitude and someone who can develop opinions about the HubSpot product
- An understanding of building reliable systems in a complex architectural space
