* 2.5 days per week term time only

Geelong Grammar School is one of the worlds leading co-educational boarding and day schools. Our Toorak Campus (approximately 320 students) is in Melbourne. It caters to day students from Early Learning to Year 6. After Year 6 most students proceed to Corio. The Toorak campus has approximately 50 full-time and part-time teaching and support staff.

We seek to appoint a Psychologist / School Counsellor with specialist knowledge of child development to support the needs of children in the Geelong Grammar School environment. This position is offered on a 0.5 FTE part-time basis (2.5 days per week) during term time only commencing during Term 4 2025.

About the role:

The School Psychologist is responsible for the following tasks:

1. Provide short-term or intermittent counselling interventions to students individually or in group programs as appropriate

2. Provide consultation feedback and support to parents on the psychological needs of their child.

3. Liaise with Geelong Grammar School staff as well as other multidisciplinary staff (including G.P.s and external psychologists) and to facilitate and coordinate student access to treatment and lead case management teams.

4. Maintain adequate records of clinical practice both individually and in relation to student health files.

5. Actively participate in meetings focusing on student management and case consultation (student wellbeing meetings specific case meetings).

6. Maintain confidentiality with students and families and advocate on their behalf when required.

7. Ensure ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.

8. Prepare reports or management plans as needed about student wellbeing which include the impact psychological issues may have on student academic progress and recommendations for the school.

9. Achieve health outcomes which demonstrate a high regard for the student and their family in the context of the overall Geelong Grammar School community

About you:

To be successful in this role you will need:

Registration as a psychologist with AHPRA

Advanced skills in counselling interventions for children

Knowledge of child development and mental health

Current Driver License

Must have a Working with Children Check (Employee)
