This position is only open to Colorado state residents.
New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

About the Work Unit
This position is in CDOTs Region 1 and supervises the construction of the Floyd Hill unit supports the Floyd Hill Project which is a multi-year Construction Management/General Contractor (CM/GC) project that is located on the highly visible I-70 Corridor and is both a Regional and Statewide priority.
About the Position
This position serves as the Departments point person for the $900M Floyd Hill Project. This includes constant collaboration with our local partners specifically Clear Creek County Jefferson County Idaho Springs and Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) stakeholders. This position reports directly to the Floyd Hill Project Director and assists with providing Executive Management with regular project updates. This position provides visionary yet practical leadership builds trust and openly communicates such that CDOT delivers credible and sustainable public service while maintaining the highest level of quality. This position requires extensive knowledge of large construction and engineering projects and the ability to establish and maintain strong and trustworthy relationships with elected officials and local partners.
Your duties and responsibilitieswill include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead CDOT and consultant staff to ensure the project is constructed with quality and unique sensitivity to the community in which it is being constructed.
- Serve as CDOTs representative to address community Council and other stakeholder concerns.
- Work with the CM/GC team to ensure the contract commitments are met and the project is delivered on schedule and budget while mitigating risk.
- Coordinate with all stakeholders affected communities businesses and cooperating agencies through the construction of the project.
- Build trust and provide clear explanations of what is occurring or will occur on the project during different phases.
- Serve as the lead for the I-70 Mountain Corridor CSS process which required Project Leadership Team (PLT) Technical Team (TT) and Issue Task Force (ITF) meetings throughout final design and construction.
- Lead a large and blended CM/GC team fostering respectful relationships between designer contractor and CDOT staff.
- Defend CDOTs stance on issues or contract requirements.
- Supervise CDOT staff assigned to the project. Monitor work provide coaching and training and document and evaluate performance.
- Collaborate and communicate with the West Program Engineer Regional Management Executive Staff Colorado Transportation Investment Office (CTIO) the Transportation Commission elected city and county officials as the project is developed and constructed.
- Communicate clearly based on the needs and comprehension level of the audience provide timely feedback and follow-up and be able to adapt to changing priorities.

Work Environment:
- Your schedule will primarily be 8:00 am 5:00 pm work hours Monday-Friday but we are flexible to meet your work/life balance needs while ensuring CDOT business needs are met.
- You will likely work a primary in office schedule being on site to support construction activities.
- Frequent travel for meetings and to field sites including evening and weekend work.
- Contact will be required day evening or night for the Floyd Hill Project.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required throughout the state.
- Required to operate CDOT vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications Substitutions Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Minimum Qualifications
- Current valid licensure as a Professional Engineer from the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors.
- AND at least two (2) years of professional experience in transportation and/or traffic engineering one (1) year of which must have been as a licensed professional engineer.
Substitution: Appropriate education in addition to that required for the professional engineer license will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
