Shinkei Systems which has perfected the Japanese Ike-Jime technique a method for humane fish harvest that adheres to strict ethical standards and prevents the buildup of lactic acid and stress hormones which accelerate spoilage and degrade flavor.
They partner with fishermen who source product from U.S. waters to produce superior grade products under their brand Sermoni which have already made their way to Michelin-starred restaurants and premium first product launched is Black Cod available in both fresh and in frozen retail packs.
In order to execute on their ambitions they are now seeking a key new hire as a
Processing and QA Manager to assist with overseeing product and brand quality.This new hire will need to travel to sites in Washington and Oregon to oversee the operations. This new hire has the opportunity to directly impact the company the ability to build something industry changing.
Key responsibilities:
Process Supervision and Control:- Supervise the planning and organization of production processes in all stages.
- Control the optimal use of human and material resources involved in the production processes.
- Supervise that processing tasks are carried out under the protection of the occupational health and safety of the personnel.
- Implement controls in the process that demonstrate compliance with specifications.
Operations Coordination:- Coordinate with the operations team the supply of packaging and work materials necessary to comply with production schedules.
Quality and Food Safety Assurance:- Guarantee compliance with the specifications documented in the internal technical sheets which are aligned with national and export regulations.
- Verify compliance with the quality assurance program prerequisites and Critical Control Points (CCPs) related to each plants HACCP plan ensuring its alignment with the companys requirements.
- Document and follow up on any event that affects the quality and safety of the product at any stage of the process
Data Analysis:- Capture processing and quality data from each stage of the process for its subsequent analysis and integration into a management indicator system.
Required and Preferred requirements:
- Engineering or Bachelors degree in Food Science Oceanologist Biochemist Aquaculture Food Technician or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in quality assurance or production processes in processing plants.
- Experience in personnel management.
- Management of strategic indicators and quality and food safety management systems.
- Solid knowledge of HACCP (certification preferred) Good Manufacturing Practices and writing SOPs and SSOPs.
- General knowledge of national and international regulations in the food industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills.
