This position is part of the Amazon Specialist and Partner Organization (ASP). Specialists own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for their respective technology domains providing the business and technical expertise to help our customers succeed. Partner teams own the strategy recruiting development and growth of our key technology and consulting partners. Together they provide our customers with the expertise and scale needed to build innovative solutions for their most complex challenges.

The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is responsible for driving revenue adoption and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. We work backwards from our customers most complex and business critical problems to build and execute go-to-market plans that turn AWS ideas into multi-billion-dollar businesses. WWSO teams include business development specialist and technical solutions architecture. As part of WWSO youll provide expertise across the entire life cycle of an AWS customer initiative from developing ideas for new services to accelerating the adoption of established businesses. As part of the Amazon Database Migration Accelerator (DMA) team youll use your experience and real-world know-how to help customers move their database applications to AWS. We are looking for talented migration specialist/architects that are passionate about databases and migrations and are enthusiastic about applying bold new ideas to real-world problems. You will be forward-looking and aware of the latest DB technology offerings (including both relational and NoSQL) and migration methodologies. Databases and Analytics Services at AWS covers a range of data platforms including Amazon Aurora DynamoDB Redshift Athena as well as AWS Database Migration Service Data Pipeline Glue and more. As each service grows so does adoption by customers world-wide.

In this position you will deal with demanding customers and pressing deadlines but that just keeps things interesting. Youll have exceptional problem-solving skills strong business judgment and demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams. This position requires a solid technical background and you should be customer-focused with a passion for the cloud and information technology. You should have deep understanding in at least one of Oracle or SQL Server Sybase or DB2 databases and knowledge of PostgreSQL MySQL or other AWS native database engines is highly desirable. Past experience in database migrations and migration technologies is required.

Key job responsibilities
As a Sr Database Migration Specialist SA on the Database Migration Accelerator team you will be:
Working with customers AWS sales professional services solution architects and product teams to drive migrations to AWS managed databases
Assessing customer database workloads helping qualifying those applications that are suitable for migration and developing a high-level migration plan
Identifying technical solutions to migration roadblocks and guiding database and application developers to implement them
Assisting customers in the execution of migration proof-of-concept projects
Delivering technical workshops and immersion days
Advising customers throughout the migration lifecycle earning their trust and satisfaction
Enabling customers in the use of AWS database and migration products and services
Identifying new opportunities for AWS to improve our products and innovate on behalf of our customers.

- Bachelors degree in computer science engineering mathematics or equivalent or experience in a professional field or military
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Knowledge of one or more relational databases or NoSQL systems.
- Experience within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development cloud computing systems engineering infrastructure security networking data & analytics).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence others internally and externally.
