The Kairos School Counselor reporting to the Principal plays a vital role in supporting students social-emotional development academic success and preparation for school success. The counselor leads a comprehensive program in four areas: Social-Emotional Learning Individual Student Planning Responsive Services and System Support. Through collaboration with the Kairos team the counselor empowers students to thrive and equips them to shape their futures.
Social-Emotional Learning (Direct Student Services)
Facilitate identity-affirming SEL lessons in collaboration with teachers and administrators.
Provide individual and small group counseling that addresses barriers to self-awareness self-identity and academic success.
Deliver lessons and activities that promote social-emotional skills resilience and positive school culture.
Individual Student Planning
Guide students in academic planning and school readiness including educational and career exploration.
Develop and monitor individual support plans for at-risk students.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and scheduling.
Responsive Services
Provide crisis intervention short-term counseling and referral to outside services when appropriate.
Partner with families staff and external agencies to address barriers to learning.
Assist with student McKinney-Vento identification and support transitions for highly mobile students.
System Support
Collaborate with school leaders and staff to review and strengthen the counseling program.
Participate in school-wide data reviews and adjust strategies to support student outcomes.
Support family engagement and post-secondary planning initiatives.
SEL: 90% of students report growth in social-emotional skills in quarterly surveys.
Planning: 100% of at-risk students have individualized academic or credit recovery plans.
Responsive Services: 100% of referrals are documented and addressed.
System Support: All students credit and progress are reviewed each semester.

Bachelors degree required.
Masters degree in school counseling social work psychology or related mental health field preferred.
Missouri School Counselor Certification or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC/LCSW) strongly preferred.
Strong collaboration and communication skills with commitment to Kairos values.
Eligible to work in the U.S. and able to pass background checks.
Comfortable with Microsoft Office and student information systems.
Able to adapt to digital tools for scheduling data tracking and communication.
Starting Salary: $50000 (commensurate with experience).
