Job Summary:
Primary role of a Critical Care Tech (CCT) in Surgical Day Care (SDC) and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is to facilitate patient flow and care by assisting nurses and other perioperative staff. Such assistance includes but is not limited to: turning rooms over transporting patients orders supplies to maintain appropriate supply levels obtaining VS as well as other diagnostic tests (such as FSBS EKG etc) as directed by an RN.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists physicians with treatments and procedures as requested.
Assists in the admission and discharge of patients to expedite care.
Assists in the collection of routine specimens.
Assists with the transfer of patients to and from other departments utilizing appropriate technique (i.e. body mechanics transfer mattress).
Observes reports and records non-invasive vital signs and intake and output as directed by the registered nurse and in accordance with Patient Care Services Standards.
Performs a variety of complex patient treatments and procedures according to standard policies and procedures.
Physically prepares patients for and assists care providers with examinations and therapeutic procedures.
Assists with pre and post- operative patient admission to the Surgical Day Care Unit.
Performs pre-operative checklist verification.

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS
Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequently kneels (bending the legs at knee to come to rest on knee or knees) reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction) and feels (perceiving attributes of items as size shape temperature or texture by means of fingertips). Occasionally crouches (bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine) and stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist).
Minimum Licenses and Certifications
Prior experience in PACU SDC or Endoscopy preferred.
Required Skills
Positive attitude flexibility and self-direction are a must.
